M94, The Cat's Eye Galaxy

M94, the Cat's Eye Galaxy, a beautiful nearby starburst-ringed galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici. M94 is located 16 million light years away and exhibits an intricate inner and outer ring structure. The data for this image was collected over several nights in April 2023 using the 250mm f/4 Lacerta PhotoNewton and ZWO ASI294MM Pro camera. The image is a combination of LRGB and H-alpha exposures. To cover the wide dynamic range of this target (bright inner disk and faint outer ring), a series of long (180s , 300 s) and short (30 s) luminance exposures with different camera gain settings were taken.
